Guangzhou Penjing (Bonsai) Exhibition

I went to the Guangzhou Penjing (Bonsai) Exhibition in Martyrs’ Park yesterday. With over 350 lingnan penjing (southern style Chinese bonsai), it’s the biggest lingnan penjing exhibition since the founding of the country. A truly A+ penjing should look just as exquisite when it is naked of leaves, as the times when it is blooming

Start Growing Bonsai from Cutting Propagation

Besides the two bonsai trees, I have also got two small Crape Myrtle (aka Lagerstroemia indica , or 紫薇 in Chinese) cuttings from the mini bonsai class of Hong Kong Institute of Lingnan Penjing. Bonsai – A Constantly Growing Art

As ignorant as I may sound, before the classes, I had this impression that bonsai is like a gardening style that only grandfathers love. However, after learning more about bonsai art and meeting some bonsai enthusiasts, I was quite surprised to find that there are actually quite a big group of bonsai enthusiasts, both women

My First Contact with Bonsai

Out of curiosity, I took a few bonsai classes a few weeks ago. Before I took these classes, I had had zero knowledge in bonsai, and I wasn’t at all interested in growing a bonsai. I was just curious in finding out what separates good bonsai tree from bad bonsai tree. Why do some bonsai
